Choosing the Right Death Knight Talent Tree
By Mike Miller | October 31, 2009
There are a lot of people out there who are interested in trying out the Death Knight class, but they might be a little nervous about it. Death Knights are World of Warcraft’s first hero class, and they enter the game at level 55, equipped with good gear and a mount. They have an impressive
Blood
With the Blood tree, you are looking at what might be the best leveling build for you, though Unholy does come a close second. This is a tree that allows you to conserve your runic power fairly easily and you will be able to launch more attacks in a short amount of time. The drawback is that your attacks are going to be dealing less damage. This is the talent tree for those interested in playing with the melee aspect of this class. This is also the tree that has healing abilities; when you are soloing, the ability to heal yourself is going to be very beneficial and this is where Rune Tap and Vampiric Blood come in. If you are interested in melee combat while leveling, this is the right tree for you.
Frost
When you put your points into the Frost Tree, you will discover that you are looking at ranged attacks. This is the tree that will allow you to do both spell damage and melee damage and if you appreciate the ability to switch back and forth, this might be the tree for you. With Howling Blast, you are going to have a great area of effect spell and the amount of amage that you can put out is relatively high. You are slightly more vulnerable and your ability to survive might be compromised thanks to your lack of ability to heal.
Unholy
With the Unholy tree, you will have several benefits as you are leveling and with recent changes, some people feel that this tree is better for this purpose than Blood. This is the tree that you are going to want if you want to take on more than one mob at at a time. This is the only talent tree that allows you to summon a pet, in the form of your ghoul. Your ghoul will act as your tank while allowing you to deal out fairly high DPS.
What kind of Death Knight are you looking to play and which talent tree matches your style? Check out what kind of potential this class has and see how it meshes with your own goals for the game. Because this class is so new, it is subject to change, and this is why an updated World of Warcraft guide can be so helpful!
